Junior Kansas Association for the Deaf


KSD is a chapter of the Junior National Association for the Deaf (Jr. NAD) and the Junior Kansas Association for the Deaf (Jr. KAD). High school students have the opportunity to become voluntary members of Jr. KAD. The purpose of the Jr. KAD is as follows:

  • To empower students through partnerships in leadership, citizenship, human communication, and teamwork
  • To provide students with unlimited opportunities for contributions to the development of their school and community
For further information, please refer to the guidelines established for Jr. KAD, which can be found by contacting the high school office.


Student Body Council

Student Body Council (SBC) is an elected student governing body consisting of high school students. The purpose of SBC is:
  • To promote the welfare of the school
  • To encourage self-government
  • To develop a sense of responsibility among the students
  • To assist in furthering regular activities of the school and dormitory

Senior Class

  • In late spring or early fall, senior class officers meet with the freshmen class to orient them to responsibilities and activities such as class meetings, election of officers, duties of officers, and division of reponsibility between students and sponsors.
  • Plan Homecomig activities for the senior class.
  • Prepare for Graduation (i.e., ordering announcements, caps, gowns, senior pictures, etc.)
  • Attend Junior/Senior Banquet.

Junior Class

  • Host Junior/Senior Banquet.
  • Host commencement refreshments/ushers
  • Plan Homecomig activities for the Junior class.

Sophomore Class

  • Select class rings in the spring for delivery the next fall.
  • Serve at Junior/Senior Banquet
  • Plan Homecomig activities for the Sophomore class.

Freshman Class

  • Plan Homecomig activities for the Freshman class.
