Values behind family services at KSD:
Every family is unique: they define themselves.
Implications: Family support should be individualized.
A variety of services and information, in a variety of formats
should be available.
A need is not a need unless it is recognized by the family.
Implication: Families should receive timely, honest, complete,
and understandable information.
Services should be sensitive to family needs.
Implications: Services should be scheduled at times and
locations comfortable to families. Services should provide families
with options for mutual support from other families.
All family members and all family needs are equally important.
Implications: A variety of options for services for all
family members should be available. Families are encouraged to
pace themselves and to balance their child's needs with their
own and other family members.
Families are constantly changing.

to changing events in the family.
