General Information

For families with individuals who are deaf/hard of hearing living in the home, this program offers free visual/vibrating smoke alarms. Please see the website for details and how to request the smoke alarm: https://firemarshal.ks.gov/198/Get-Alarmed-Free-Smoke-Alarm-Program

The Office of the State Fire Marshal recently expanded our free "Get Alarmed Free Smoke Alarm Kansas" program to include deaf and hard of hearing alarms. We wanted KSD to be aware of the addition since you all may be able to help spread the word about the program. Currently we offer a strobe alarm as well as a bedside clock with a shaker. I've attached a picture of both. The only requirements for the program are:

  • KS resident

  • Not live in an institution

  • Complete all of the form (which I've also attached but can be found at our website Get Alarmed Free Smoke Alarm Program Form)

  • Have form signed by a certifying professional listed on form
